UVA Academical Village People


AVP was founded in the Fall of 1993 with a mission statement of never taking themselves too seriously. They discarded a number of clever monikers for the group, like All Veal Patty, A Veritable Plethora, Actually Very Purple, Appetites Vary by Person, Any Vegetable, Please, and Alligator Veins Pulse. Thankfully, they settled on a play of their University's founder, Thomas Jefferson, and his academic and architectural concept for the founding of the University of Virginia (the "academical village"). AVP continues to release increasingly sophisticated and groovy recordings, many of which have won recognition on compilations and awards such as SING!, BOCA and the CARAs.
