Q: How do I search for a group, song or CD on your site?
A: You can find products on our site in two ways:
1) Use our new search function! We've worked with our developers to create a search tool that helps our customers find just what they need (and not hundreds of extraneous results). Narrow your search by using the drop-down menu to search on a group or arranger name, CD title, song title (appearing on a CD), or sheet music title. Just type any portion of what you're looking for in our Product Search box and hit GO.
2) Use the navigation bar to the left to browse our catalog of CDs, sheet music and other products.
Q: How do I find things in your sheet music department?
A: You can navigate our sheet music selection in three ways:
- By style - If you know you're looking for a certain style (like a pop song, a jazz tune, or a choral piece), then start in the "Browse by Style" department, accessible through the Sheet Music link at the top left of any page on our site.
- By voicing - If you know you're looking for a specific voicing of a song, i.e. a TTBB (4-part men's), SATB (4-part mixed) or SSA (3-part women's) piece, use the "Browse by Voicing" link in the Sheet Music directory.
- By arranger - If you know the arranger you're looking for (like Kirby Shaw, Ysaye Barnwell, Bobby McFerrin, Derric Johnson, etc.), then try our "Browse by Arranger" department. We've collected all the arrangements by a few of the more prominent arrangers we carry and grouped them together for easier shopping.
- And of course, you can always use our new-and-improved "Search" box at the top of any page on our site. Change the drop-down menu to "Sheet Music Title" if you're looking for a specific song, enter as much or as little of the song as you'd like, and click GO.
Q: How do I know if something's in stock?
A:If the product is in stock, it will say "In Stock" to the right of its image and price information.
Q: How do I add something to my shopping cart?
A: Click the "Add to Cart" button next to the picture or description of any item on our site. That will automatically add a quantity of 1 of that item to your shopping cart. If you'd like more than 1, adjust that number in the quantity box either before clicking the "Add to Cart" button, or after the item is in your cart. If you change the quantity after the item is in the cart, be sure to hit the "Update cart contents" link to make sure the change is recorded. Changing the quantity to "0" removes the item from your cart - or you can click the "Remove item" link next to the item you'd like to remove.
Q: Can I save my shopping cart for another day?
A: Yes, you can, but you have to be a registered user on our site to do so. This is one of those member benefits we told you about in the "Why should I create an account?" question above!
If you don't have an account created with us, it's easy to register - just click on the "Sign In" link at the top of any page, and click the "Create an account" link. Once you're registered and logged in, and have a shopping cart filled up, you'll be able to see your saved cart the next time you log in to our site (carts are saved for a period of 2 weeks only).
Q: How do I create a "Wish List"?
A:There are a couple of ways to establish a Wish List on our site. First, you have to be a registered user. To see the other benefits of having an account with us, see "Why should I create an account?" . The reason you have to have an account in order to have a wish list is that our site needs to be able to recognize you to tie your wish list to your name, email address and password (so you're not seeing Joe in New Jersey's list or vice versa).
To add items to a wish list: Click the "Add to Wish List" button on any product's page.
To view your wish list: Click the Wish List link at the top of any page. Remember, you must be logged in as a registered user to see your wish list.
To send your wish list to someone else: Click the "Send list to a friend" link while viewing your wish list. You'll be prompted to enter your friend's name and email address as well as your name and email. You also have the opportunity to add a short message (i.e. "My birthday's coming up, hint, hint..."). It's a great way to make sure that you get what you want for Christmas!
Q: How do I get more than one of the same item?
A: You can change the quantity from 1 to any other number in the little box next to the "Add to Cart" button, before you click to add the item to your cart. You can ALSO adjust the quantity after the item is in your cart by changing the number in the quantity box then clicking "Update cart contents." Any changes to quantity will not be saved until you click "Update cart contents."
Q: I've added something to my cart, now how do I get back to browsing your site?
A: Once you add something to your cart, you can click the "Continue shopping" link, and you will be brought back to the category page of the last product you were viewing (i.e. if you were looking at a BOCA CD, you'll be brought back to the BOCA category page). From there, you can use the "Browse by Style" menu to the left, or use the product search box to find another specific product.
Q: Why can't I just download a single piece of sheet music in PDF format?
A: Unfortunately at this time, we are not able to offer electronic download of full pieces of sheet music. We simply do not have the capability to correctly compensate all the arrangers and composers that are entitled to parts of the proceeds from these sales right now. And most of the publishers we deal with do not allow us to offer their products digitally - even excerpts, which is why many pieces we sell don't have any examples listed. We do realize that it may be the way of the future in online sheet music sales, however, and have been trying to think of ways to do this legally and profitably for all involved. Stay tuned...
Q: Can I download individual MP3s of songs from your site?
A: No: At this time, we no longer offer MP3 music downloads.
Q: Do you offer electronic gift certificates?
A: Yes we do! Here's how to get one sent to someone else:
1) Add the desired gift certificate to your shopping cart and click the "Checkout" button.
2) Enter your name and billing address on the next page, and KEEP YOUR NAME as the "ship-to" contact at the bottom of that page. Click the "Continue" button.
3) In the "Special Instructions" box at the bottom of the "Select Shipping Method" page, enter the recipient's NAME AND EMAIL ADDRESS, along with a gift note or special instructions for us.
Example: "Please email to Debra Grady at dgrady@yahoo.com".
This is how we know who to send the gift certificate to and where to send it. Select the free "SERVICE" shipping method from the list of choices you see on that page (No shipping charges apply to gift certificate orders). Click the "Continue" button
4) Enter your payment information, review the order, and click the "Finalize Order" button when it looks like everything is correct.
An electonic gift certificate will be emailed to the recipient, along with instructions on how to redeem it, and a link to our online catalog. *NOTE: Please make sure recipients' email addresses are valid, as we are not responsible for gifts not received due to invalid email addresses.
Need a paper gift certificate mailed to yourself or someone else? Follow the instructions above, except enter the recipient's name and address (if different than yours) in the "shipping address" stage of the checkout process. No need to provide their email address if it's being mailed.
Q: How do I redeem a gift certificate online?
A: During the checkout process, on the "Payment Method" page, there is a drop-down menu where you can select which payment method you are using. Click this menu to make it say "Gift Certificate." Then, enter your gift certificate number in the field below. That certificate amount will be applied to the balance of your order. If there is a balance remaining, you will be brought BACK to the payment method page to enter a credit card for the outstanding amount.
Q: How do I listen to music samples on your site?
A: Under the item picture any product's detail page, you will see a list of linked files that are 30+-second MP3 clips (or, in the case of sheet music, PDF excerpts). Use them to give you an idea of what the music on that CD sounds like (or what the sheet music looks like).
To listen (or view), click the headphone (or Adobe Acrobat PDF) icon, and your default media player should either automatically open and download the file, or you may have to right-click the linked title and choose "Save target as" when the little dialog box pops up on your computer asking you what you'd like to do. Save it somewhere on your computer where you can find it again. After downloading the file, open your media player (i.e. Windows Media Player or RealPlayer), and go to File > Open > and find that file on your hard drive. Click the "Play" button, and you should be all set. If no "Listen" buttons are at the bottom of a page, it means no sound files are currently available for that product. Feel free to email us and let us know so we can get them up there!
Q: How do I view sheet music samples on your site?
A:On many of our sheet music titles' product detail pages, we offer a small excerpt in .pdf format for our customers to look at before making the decision to buy. Look for the "Samples" link on any product's detail page. (If it's not there, it means we aren't able to offer excerpts.) If you click on this link, you will be able to download an Adobe Acrobat PDF excerpt of the piece. If you need Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can download it here.
Due to stringent copryight laws, some publishers that we deal with do not give us permission and we are therefore unable to offer excerpts for some of the pieces in our catalog. If you ever have any question about a piece of music that we offer, give us a call at 800-827-2936 or send an email to order@a-cappella.com . We'll tell you what we know about the piece - key signature, ranges, lyrics - heck, we've even been known to sing a few bars over the phone for you! Guess that's why it's a good thing we have a staff full of singers!
Q: Do I get a discount if I buy multiple copies of sheet music titles?
A: Sometimes, we are able to offer discounts of 10-20% off the regular retail price of a piece of sheet music (or songbook), depending on which supplier we get a product from, and how much leeway we have in our margin. If a product is offered at a mutiple-copy discount, you will see "Buy x for $X.xx!" in the price area of their product detail page, so look for it!
We always encourage buying multiple copies for your performing group to stay within the letter of the law in regards to copying music.
