Identity Crisis?
Mainely A Cappella (MAC) was launched in 1998 by Don Gooding. As a former venture capitalist with
Accel Partners (and a lifelong a cappella singer), Don wanted to use the full power of technology, and especially the internet, to help grow the awareness of and interest in the burgeoning and diverse field of a cappella music.
The web site a-cappella.com was launched in 1998. New products have been added continuously. Secure online purchasing was soon available; more than 10,000 sound files have been added over time; navigation has steadily been made easier, and the product listing has grown from 1,500 to more than 3,500 CDs, sheet music titles and more.
On January 1, 2008, Mainely A Cappella and the web site "a-cappella.com" became a part of A-CAPPELLA.COM, INC., a Maine corporation founded by Doug Gray, a former employee of Mainely A Cappella.
Cool New Design, Even Cooler New Features
Here are some of the key improvements that we are excited about:
- Improved Search - We have installed a "
Google Mini" for our site, which is a software/hardware combination giving us the power of
Google's amazing technology, just for customers visiting our site!
- Wish List - Allowing customers to create a "wish list" for later purchase has been, well,
on our wish list for a long time. Now customers will have a convenient place to store
the stuff they've always wanted, without needing to navigate the site again when they are
ready to buy.
- Customer Reviews - Customers are now able to add their own reviews, just like on Amazon.com and other major e-commerce sites. We reserve the right to edit or
delete inappropriate reviews, of course, but over time the wisdom of the a cappella community will accumulate.
- Easier Checkout - Customers will no longer need to create an account to purchase products... although there are plenty of good reasons to keep an on-line account, including being able to maintain a wish list!
- Downloadable MP3s - We are now able to offer individual MP3 tracks for purchase and download, depending on an artists' participation in our Digital Download program.
With all these changes, though, we remain focused on the principles that have brought us our
success to date: great customer service provided by
dedicated, knowledgeable staff
