Village Harmony


Village Harmony is an umbrella for a range of choral music, world music and harmony singing activities under the direction of Larry Gordon and Patty Cuyler. Their main areas of expertise and interest are traditional polyphonic singing styles and community singing traditions, including: shape-note singing, Balkan music, Georgian music (the country, not the state) and African music. Although each of their choruses is unique, they share a hearty, full-throated straight-toned singing style, unorthodox voicing and unusual instrumentation. Many of their groups feature collaborations of teenage and adult singers, with an emphasis on teaching and community participation.
