Beat'achon: West Side Z'mirot This is the third disc from New York's premiere Jewish a cappella ensembleBeat'Achon. The sound's a little less modern than some of their previous work- West Side Z'mirot is an effort for the guys to meet the request of fans, who demanded a CD of z'mirot (Shabbat table songs) and a number of the tunesare listed as "traditional." The CD opens (warning: The booklet is"backwards" to Westerners, with the first page in the back) with a cover ofthe 17th Century "Shalom Aleichem" and includes the sprightly "Yom ZehMechubad" (about how Shabbat is the most precious of days because it is whenG/d rested), and the melodic "Mizmor L'David" (A psalm for David); it windsup on "Na'ar Hayiti," with the words from the grace after meals.
Song List: Shalom Aleichem Eishet Chayil Menuchah V'Simchah Ym Zeh L'yisrael Kah Ribon Yom Zeh M'chubad Yom Shabbaton Ki Eshmirah Shabbat Mizmor L'david Yedid Nefesh (Maher Ehov) Im Eshkachech/Shir Hama'alot Na'ar Hayiti (41:37 2001)
