Western Wind, The: The Passover Story
Be the first to review this product
Another magical tribute to the music of a Jewish holiday. Here, the Western Wind (plus some instruments on some songs) sings us the story of Passover. They begin with a melody of the Babylonian Jewry, "Kadesh Ur'Chatz," which explains the order of the Passover Seder (dinner). Over the course of the ceremony, they ask the "Four Questions" (traditionally asked by the youngest present), the first two as a Yiddish chant, one as an Israeli tune, and the fourth in a Sephardic style. They also perform the African-American spiritual "Go Down Moses" and member Elliot Levine's setting of Hannah Senesh's poetry to music in "Ashrei Hagrafrur." A thoroughly enjoyable album.
