How cool is this? Very cool indeed! Six singers (one woman, five men) cruise through popular Brazilian music using just their voices, and we recommend going along for the ride. Their opening vocalise (i.e., no words) gets the vibe going, The next tune is Jobim, of course, complete with vocal guitars, trumpets and other vocal effects including vocal percussion that doesn't overwhelm. Our knowledge of Portuguese is non-existent, but you don't need to understand the lyrics to dance around the room to this great music. When the music slows down to gorgeous ballads like "Preciso Aprender a Ser Só," their tight harmonies bring to mind a Brazilian New York Voices - warm and wonderful vocal jazz. As professional and sophisticated as you could want from a country with a proud and distinctive musical heritage. (40:56 2004)
