"This CD was previously available on the Bayer label, performed by the Nordic Chamber Choir which has changed its name to the Chamber Choir of Europe...I heard Lauridsen's "O Magnum Mysterium" for the first time on the radio recently, searched for a good version, and was persuaded by the excellent reviews for the out-of-print version. The reviews are spot on! I am not generally a fan of modern classical music, but after listening to this CD twice, I am entranced by Lauridsen's compositions and the Chamber Choir's artistry. Lauridsen is modern enough to sound fresh, but traditional enough to take an unashamed place in the great tradition of choral music. The music is majestic and uplifting, rich and complex without being sentimental. The CD is well-recorded and has a rich, full sound (DDD).
