"The Boys Are Back" is the Coats' first release since 2000's "On Christmas Time." The song selection reflects the evolution of their sound over time, but the actual sound of the tunes - covers like Thomas Dolby's "She Blinded Me With Science," Corey Hart's "Sunglasses At Night" and The Jackson's "Shake Your Body" - show how their studio and arranging chops have developed to a new level of a cappella performance. Originals like latin-tinged "She's Got That Thing" and James Taylor-esque "Slow Ride" (lightly accompanied by guitar) show a very grown-up, very professional a cappella talent to be reckoned with.
