JED SCOTT is an alumnus of the University of Miami School of Music with a Master's Degree in Studio Jazz Writing, a multidisciplinary program incorporating arranging, composition, film scoring and recording. He received his Bachelor's Degrees in Music and Latin from Western Michigan University, where he studied with Dr. Steve Zegree and sang for three years with the internationally regarded vocal jazz group Gold Company. In demand as a composer and arranger, he is also active as a recording engineer with a number of albums to his credit, including three acclaimed albums for Gold Company and a thirty-minute suite with jazz composer Maria Schneider which was named a 2005 Grammy Nominee in the category of Jazz Composition. He has also recorded several nationally distributed works for Hal Leonard Press. As a student he twice received an international award from Downbeat Magazine for "Best Jazz Arrangement" and received a third Downbeat Award for "Best Studio Recording." He has served as an adjudicator for the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella. His arrangements are published by UNC Jazz Press and have been sung by many of the top high school and collegiate jazz choirs throughout the United States, as well as by professional ensembles such as Peter Nero and the Philly Pops.
