The words, taken from St John's Gospel, are given a different shape in Agnus Dei by Krzysztof Penderecki (b 1933), the work written in 1981 as a tribute to Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski (later incorporated into the Polish Requiem), and Agnus Dei by Wojciech Kilar (b 1932), dedicated to Wanda Gladysz. It is bound to move listeners with its lucid and condensed formal structure, stylistic simplicity and spirituality.
