This is one of the earlier albums by this Belgian male sextet, and it's obvious that these guys have always been ultra-talented. From the opening cover of Queen's "Radio Gaga" to the endearing Italian folk "La pulce d'acqua" you know these boys can sing! Their sound has definitely matured over the years, and their accents have softened a bit, but on this early release some of the English lyrics are still a bit affected (see "Caravan of Love"), and the arrangements here are pretty simple, but still pleasant. Shades of Zap Mama abound on exotic "Zobi la Mouche;" they ably cover Miriam Makeba on "Pata Pata"; Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams" is given an interesting but not-quite-convincing latin treatment, while the Statler Brothers' country classic "Flowers on the Wall" involves vocally-produced animal sounds. Eclectic to say the least! The album includes three live tracks - yes, a very mellow, in-tune "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is one of them, along with a kickin' live version of "Radio Gaga." All songs a cappella and totally worth the price of admission. (46:52 1998)
