The debut album from this Boston-based sextet is definitely varied in repertoire, featuring arrangements by group members that range from 80's pop (The Cure's "Lovecats"), to 70's disco hits ("Play That Funky Music") to modern radio ("Shake Your Bon Bon") and anime themes ("Pikachu (I Choose You)"). They throw humorous songs in the mix as well, with "Fatso" and latin-flavored "In These Shoes." Introspective pop gets its turn as well with Johnny Clegg's "Dela" and Suzanne Vega's "Calypso." The vocal percussion performed here by Hyoun Park is one of their strong points, and their overall balance is usually very good. Lack of energy and conviction in some instances would be our only negative comment, although that's easily attributable to first-time recording jitters. All in all, a good debut effort. (39:16 2003)
