It's really hard to just find one reason to tell you to buy this album, because there are so many! "Cover to Cover" is the debut album for this Finnish quartet, and if this is any indication of what they're capable of, look out! This description of the band from their web site says it really well:

"When it comes to a cappella Fork has always had a few trump cards of their own up their sleeve...this has been the case ever since the three actors and one police man were having a cup of tea in the kitchen of an apartment in Helsinki back in 1996 and decided to start a band. There was just one problem: it was impossible to form a rock band with the instruments the four could play - the piano, the violin, the recorder and the bass. But then it dawned on them; they all could sing!

Since then Fork has made their own a cappella arrangements of somewhere in the region of fifty rock and pop songs. The group has a broad range and have performed songs by Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, U2 and Whitney Houston. Fork holds nothing sacred and nothing is impossible for the band. They do not see themselves as an a cappella group but rather as a pop and rock band. Their debut album also reflects this idea: Cover To Cover is not an a cappella record. It is a pop and rock album."

Opening track "You Give Love a Bad Name" (a la Bon Jovi) just flat-out ROCKS. "Can't a Loop" starts with the US3 hit from the early 90s', but morphs itself through Madonna's "Vogue," Prince's "Get Off," Vanilla Ice's "Ice, Ice, Baby," Michael Jackson's "Black or White" and Aerosmith/Run DMC's "Walk This Way." Yeah. All in one song. Seamlessly. U2 cover "Beautiful Day" is just awesome - the instrumental sounds, the solo, the expression - it ALL WORKS. (41:17 2005)
