BOCA 2007: Best of College A Cappella '07

Interesting BOCA "Bit":
Since Deke Sharon produces several college CDs a year, when any of those come up for consideration, he recuses himself and leaves the choice up to Don Gooding. This was the case when Colorado College's Back Row CD came up for listening. When Don chose "Peaches" as the BOCA 2007 closer, Deke shook his head slowly "They're gonna kill me..." Turns out, "Peaches" was the first track Deke had mixed for the group, and they had resisted his use of flanges to emulate electric guitars, and came close to dropping the song from the CD. It's a happy ending for the group, though, as this quirky tune by the Presidents of the United States makes for a perfect album closer. And, "Peaches" is only available on the CD, as we couldn't license it through the Harry Fox Agency for digital download. So buy a copy of BOCA 2007 and get your "Peaches" today!

"A top-notch BOCA with tasteful mixing throughout. My students loved "Zombies" by the Wellesley Tupelos when I played it as an example of beautifully-arranged but not overly precious a cappella. Bravo!"
