The great variety of styles that make up the a cappella world is apparent on this annual live recording of the Harmony Sweepstakes Finals in California. From barbershop (Roadshow performing "St. Louis Blues" and "Bye Bye Blues") to contemporary (2 solid tracks by Inpulse, including an excellent original called "Obsession".) to lots of jazz and humor and even some salsa by the Puerto Rican group Alpha. Idea of North, from Australia, has a funny take on "Blue Bayou" and a very sweet version of "Isn't she Lovely". Chapter 6 does all sorts of clever stuff with "It Don't Mean a Thing.." Clockwork sings "I've Got Rhythm/Fascinatin' Rythym" medley and somehow manages to incorporate "Old Man River" into the middle of everything. Mosaic produces very tight jazz on "Take 5".
