This California-based vocal ensemble has enjoyed a long and successful career. There have been a few different configurations of vocalists since their inception from members in Bobby McFerrin's backing group Voicestra, but their repertoire has remained consistent - vocal jazz-inflected soul/world/improv/gospel pieces that are always intelligent, and always aimed at celebrating the human voice. This album is a retrospective of their recording career to date, including pieces from their previous albums ("World Jazz A Cappella"-1997, "Precious"-2001, "Truth and Other Stories"-1998) as well as some previously unreleased tracks. This is a great introduction to the group if you're new to them, and a good collection of favorites if you're already a fan. (79:10 2005)
