Haven Quartet: Come Let Us Adore Him
This very lovely album of celebration of the story and meaning of Christmas contains not only music but readings telling the story surrounding Jesus's birth. The CD is full of unusual arrangements, some with a bit of the exoticism one would expect from a story that takes place in such a different world from ours. There is a large serving of instrumentation using piano and violin, as well as less common music makers such as Uilleann pipes, hurdy-gurdy and crumhorn (!). We Three Kings and Joy of Man's Desiring are totally instrumental. Still, even a cappella lovers will want to make room in their holiday collections for this evocative album. (65:58 1997)
