This is Kodaly's arrangement of a traditional Hungarian tune. There is some divisi in the parts, and the meter switches back and forth from 3/4 to 2/4 often. Kodaly uses a lovely echo technique here, and the lilting 3/4 meter draws the listener in to hear "the story" of the Christ child's birth. (Also available in the collection "Carols for Choirs.")
