Taken from inside front cover: "This short simple settings of traditional carols are intended for village choirs and Women's Institutes where some of the singers may still be in the early stages of trying to read their notes. Each part is easy enough to be learned by rote if necessary, and each setting is short enough for choirs to learn by heart for singing out of doors in the dark."
