Shenandoah arr. Steven Sametz (SSAATTBB)
Be the first to review this product
This folksong, "Shenandoah," is genuinely American. The song seems to have originated in the early nineteenth century as a land ballad in the areas of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, with a story of a trader who fell in love with the daughter of the Indian Chief Shenandoah. The song reached its first height of popularity perhaps a little before the 1840's,and is sometimes known as "The Wild Mizzourye." Rehearsal keyboard accompaniment notation is provided. Listen to The Princeton Singers perform this and other arrangements and works of Steven Sametz on their CD "Old New Borrowed Blues," our product #6012C.
