"Songs for Srebrenica" consists of traditional Bosnian sevdah songs arranged for female voices by Musicians Without Borders' Laura Hassler; some have instrumental introductions taken from other songs. A few songs have been composed to poems by "Mak" Dizdar. Two songs, "Noches, noches" and "Durme, durme" are traditional ladino songs from the Jewish community in Sarajevo, written in judeo-spanish. "Kolo" is a poem by "Mak" Dizdar set to a traditional Armenian melody. Proceeds from the sales of the book and the accompanying CD go to Musicians Without Borders, an organization whose mission is to "use the powers of music to facilitate reconciliation and detraumatization in areas which have been ravaged by violence.
