There aren't enough truly great new a cappella jazz groups for our taste, which is why we're ecstatic about this debut from 2001 Harmony Sweepstakes Champions Sixth Wave! Everything about it is superlative. Song selection balances familiar tunes like "Blackbird" and jazz standards "Gimme That Wine" (great solos!) with fun surprises "Grazin' In The Grass," "Vincent" and "Taki Rari" (divacappella!) plus amusing "You Can't Use My Car." The arrangements are sophisticated and tasteful but not too complex. Did we say they have great voices? You bet! And production by Gabriel Mann (Rutman) is flawless. If you love vocal jazz, you definitely should get this CD! (38:41 2001)
