The long-awaited sophomore album from Los Angeles favorites Sixth Wave is all it's cracked up to be - and more! Produced by a cappella überproducer Gabriel Mann (who also does some guest vocal percussion) and including both snappy originals and spot-on covers, "It Will Come to You" shows you that this ensemble is more than a one-hit-wonder! The title track by group members Cindy Bourquin and Gerald White is a smooth, R & B testament to the spirit of persistence that the group no doubt has in spades. Sting's "Fragile" is anything but "just another cover" of that oft-performed tune - soprano Elin Carlson's arrangement manages to include a myriad of styles in one five-minute track, from latin-flavored jazz, to smooth Singers Unlimited chords, to the classic pop sound that makes this such a great song. Traditional jazz roots show on straight-ahead swingers "Twisted" and "Jeannine." Tongue-in-cheek gem "She's Been Around the Block" features some great vocal stylings as well as comic timing. The nine-minute "Earth, Wind & Fire Medley" really highlights the groups' arranging chops, seamlessly blending "Got to Get You Into My Life," "September," "After the Love is Gone" and "Sing a Song" into one coherent musical event. Check out their vocal horn section - amazing! Their cover of Aerosmith's "Dream On" arranged by 'Waver Amy Fogerson is simply beautiful - reinventing the hard rock classic into an introspective and heartfelt ballad can't be easy. The production on this album is clean and powerful. The singing is top-notch. There is nothing left to "come to you" when wondering about the talent on this CD - just take a listen and..well you know the rest... (49:03 2004)
