When one of the greatest vocal groups ever to sing a note does a tribute to an artist, you know they are larger than life. Louis Armstrong definitely fits the bill. His songs lend themselves perfectly to those quintessential Manhattan Transfer vocalizations. Make no mistake, this is filled to the brim with swing to make the most notorious of wallflowers grab a partner and cut a rug. Hats off to the Transfer for their choices on this album, which includes such memories as "A Kiss to Build A Dream On," "Do You Know What It Means ToMiss New Orleans" and "Gone Fishin'." Also to be noted is the aptly named "Nothing Could Be Hotter Than That." Surprisingly absent, however, is "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead," a song Louis performed many times over and every time memorably. But this takes nothing away from this album. In fact, old Satchmo is probably listening to this album right now and smiling.
