After an over four-year recording hiatus, Kickshaw are back in a large way. The album is all originals - funky groove-fests "No Tomorrow" and opening track "Stand Up," introspective radio-ready alt-pop "No" and Latin-flavored "Me Gusta La Musica" (Ricky Martin, look out!). Although the album is indeed all humanly-produced, the boys don't hesitate to use studio effects to enhance the mood of the song. "Potatoes and Rice" shows the guys' silly side, talking about their songwriting process. "The Other Side" is a beautiful love song with just the slightest hint of Dan Fogelberg. But these guys can rock, as "What I Wanted" proves. This one definitely bears repeat listening - preferably loudly and somewhere where they won't look at you funny while you're boppin' out to it.
