Octappella's opening "Man in Motion" (from the St. Elmo's Fire soundtrack) is wonderful, and sets a great tone for the rest of the album. Far from being the only unusual cover, they also pay their respects to REO Speedwagon with "In My Dreams," and Styx with "Come Sail Away." A group with unusual repertoire can be forgiven much, but in Octappella's case, there's not much forgive - their originals ("Awe," "When I First Saw You," "With a Friend" and "The Voice") are strong and passionate. Even their more common covers ("Prayer of the Children," "MLK") are well-delivered. Their parody of "Bohemian Rhapsody" ("Baldhemian Rhapsody") will probably send a chill up the spine of most of the follicly-challenged! Nice job on your sophomore disc, guys. (42:12 2001)
