Hampton Avenue is a group whose sound is hard to lock into a category. Theyperform arrangements with all the style of the best in vocal jazz (they cango toe-to-toe with the best) but not all of their music is vocal jazz. Theyblur the lines between jazz and pop to create their own particular sound.Vocal performances here are magnificent and they make this Toronto group agreat find. Highlights are the original "Baila," "Here's That Rainy Day" abeautifully performed ballad, and "In A Mellow Tone," a vocal jazz standardgiven new life. Also of note is the very funny original "Foodblooz,"performed by the ladies of Hampton Avenue. Order this one today! You will bevery happy you did.

"Wow, this CD brings such variety! What a learning tool for beginning listeners! Great examples of scat, bass lines, percussion, etc. My Jr. High kids learned so much from just this one CD. Bravo!"
