Take a nostalgic trip back to the late 1950s with this Collectables compilation. Combining two of Rosemary Clooney's landmark recordings, thedisc features the Hi-Lo's and Rosemary, backed up by Frank Comstock, Harry James and their orchestras. The first 12 tracks are mostly Rosie solo, with the Hi-Lo's helping out on "Moonlight Becomes You," and a swinging "I Could Write a Book." They make "Coquette" their own, and add their own lush brand of harmony to "Together." The gorgeous a cappella passages in "Solitude" show us why the Hi-Lo's are cherished so much as a vocal jazz group. While this one is focused on Rosie for the most part, the Hi-Lo's' layered vocals only enhance the beauty and quality of the music. The second 12 tracks are just Rosie and the Harry James orchestra, but includes great standards like her first big hit "Come On-A My House," "Stella By Starlight," and "When You Wish Upon a Star."
