The second recording by this talented ensemble is as eclectic, creative and innovative as the first. It opens with two original R&B tunes - radio-friendly love song "With You" featuring Joey Blake, and Nicolas Bearde on his contemplative, poetic "Clear Winter Skies." Then Rhiannon uses evocative words and her incredibly expressive voice to open up the soul-searching of an aging boomer who feels like she's "In My Prime." Other highlights include ambient, wordless "For the Forest;" a hopeful but realistic tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, "Thank You For The Dream," and "Gift Of Music," which features a classic jazz progression with dueling scat. With these nine songs SoVoSó continues to forge new paths in vocal music while remaining rooted in popular music conventions. (46:19 1998)
