Here are two LPs on one CD representing forays into new stylistic territory by the fab four (The Hi-Lo's, that is). Bossa Nova, the synthesis of Brazilian samba and American jazz, was just hitting the musical scene when the Hi-Lo's embraced it in their unique fashion. Classics include "One Note Samba," "The Duck (O pato)," "Desafinado" as well as some originals! Folk music was also coming onto the popular music scene, so The Hi-Lo's cut an LP that included "Sixteen Tons," amusingly hokey "On Top of Old Smokey," and a cappella "Cockle and Mussels" - another classic Puerling gem!
