This is one very hot recording! It combines music from Quincy Jones, singing by Ward Swingle (and five others), close harmony arrangements modeled after a big band sax section, and vocalese (a la Lambert Hendricks & Ross) in French, with lyrics by Mimi Perrin. The 20 tunes were recorded from 1959 to 1962, and range from Quincy Jones' sizzling "Rat Race" to Horace Silver's cool "Doodlin'" to Coltrane's "Naima." Fantastic! (68:11 1999)
