From Italy, mixed quintet Mezzo Sotto shows the same musicality on their debut disc that has built legions of fans for The Real Group. Their international repertoire includes a lovely "Lullaby of Birdland," a very cool "Autumn Leaves" and several originals in Italian - "Anti ninna nanna" (about kids?) and English - haunting "Winter." Their take on "When the Saints Go Marchin' In" is very original, with an extended intro and several stylistic spins - great stuff!
