Vocal Six Second to None (CD)
Be the first to review this product
What a great CD! This young male Swedish (well, south of Sweden, in Skåne) sextet serves up a very tasty helping of a cappella pop on this, their fifth album. The disc opens with original "Second to None," (one of three originals on the album) a sweet ode to the blind power of love. Their version of The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" is full of vocal summer sun, and their medley of Tom Jones songs (It's Not Unusual/Sexbomb/Delilah/What's New Pussycat?/The Green, Green Grass of Home/Kiss") in a "contest" format, pitting group members against each other for the title of "best hairy chest" is just too fun to miss (not to mention musically VERY good)! Between that and their "Wannabee Gees" medley (Night Fever/How Deep is Your Love/Stayin' Alive), you really don't need any other reasons to get this album. It won't matter if you can't speak Swedish, you can still enjoy the sassy, jazzy arrangements on "Jag sager jo" and "Dansa hela natten." One other highlight: their VERY original treatment of Brian May's "The Things We Do For Love" is fresh and endearing, with an arrangement reminiscent of Toronto's Cadence.
All this adds up to 10 compelling reasons you should add this to your collection. After all, who wouldn't welcome six young, attractive, talented Swedish men into their home? (grin) (41:06 2006)
