Very tasty! This vocal jazz quintet (one chick, four dudes) got a bit of help from Richard "Bob" Greene on the mixing, but it's clear these talented musicians can conceive and execute fabulous, sophisticated ear candy all by themselves. Somewhat remiscent of +4dB, these singers create their own sound with songs you mostly won't hear elsewhere "And (So) What If I Don't" is a cool swing. Track five is a wild and wooly agglomeration of "Indiana Lee" with "Donna Lee," a vocalize in the tradition of Jon Hendricks (with lyrics written by bandmember Stephen Saxon). We think "Rhode Island is Famous For You" was written for our own Amy Briggs, but we haven't verified that. The group even kicks in original "Big Cash Deal" which closes the album with unique style. Interesting, but lacking in places...

"I agree that this CD is "tasty," but at the same time, it feels too "live" in places. When I pick up a CD, I do actually want some of that processed effect. I want some of those minor issues taken care of, but now and then, they come into play, whether a small fluctuation in a single voice, small chord tuning, or solo issue. I do love "Moment's Notice" and would love to perform the arrangement. In general, all the arrangements are challenging and full of surprises. "
