The test for any jazz group is a live album - and The Real Group passes with flying colors! The 12-song recording is chock full of great jazz standards like Jon Hendricks' "Lil' Darlin," Cole Porter's "Night and Day," Monk's "Round Midnight," Ellington's "Come Sunday," Basie's "Good Bait," "There Will Never Be Another You" and more. There's very little song overlap with other albums, and for a Stockholm concert, surprisingly just one song in Swedish, "Den Lyssnande Maria." Here's the only place to find them performing "Strawberry Fields Forever," or the cool jazz, wordless "Splanky." Gene Puerling praises the recording, saying "The singers are marvelous, the material is challenging and the arrangers are most creative. The album is superb!" Need we say more? (1996 49:08)
