If you're looking for a contemporary male sound to add to your holiday music collection, look no further than A-Live's Christmas album. This Swiss septet delivers all the warm fuzzies you could want with their great covers of Christmas classics like "White Christmas" and "Jingle Bells" a la Elvis; smooth, Blenders-esque "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "The First Noel" (their accent is noticeable but kind of quaint on these and a few others on the album) ; calypso "Mary's Boy Child" and "The King is Born" are refreshing tropical treats; doo-woppy "Silent Night" is kind of nice, in a retro kind of way; "A Wish for You" is boy-band worthy material, with a Boyz II Men/N'Sync style. The last track on the album features guest star Heidi Zehnder with a beautiful classical-style soprano solo that somehow fits in quite nicely over the boys' harmony. (32:25 2000)
