This Gwyneth Walker arrangement of Lucille Clifton's poetry is full of energy and fun. It begins with a spoken percussion part, accompanied by a hand-clapping pattern (which makes memorization a good idea). The text (which seems to be written from an African-American standpoint), reflects on a relationship that has gone on for years, reminiscing on experiences and where the friends are now. The range for the sopranos goes up to a high A, altos from a G below middle C to D above middle C. A different and exciting piece to add to any contemporary program. Running time: approx. 3:40.
