At last! The Chordettes' early barbershop material is out on CD. Although popular in their day for hits like "Mr. Sandman" and "Lollipop," the group began as a barbershop quartette. Among the gems are ballads galore: "When You Were Sweet Sixteen," "Carry Me Back To Old Virginny," "Shine On Harvest Moon," and "Lonesome - That's All." There are some barbershop uptunes like "Ballin' The Jack" and "Runnin' Wild" but most of the uptempo material lies in the "bonus tracks" of The Chordettes with Arthur Godfrey (a TV host) - "O Joe" and "Dance Me Loose."
