This CD is another "two-fer" in the Four Freshmen catalog - two LPs on one CD for a total of 26 tracks! The "In Person" LP was recorded live in 1958 at a performance at Compton Community College in Compton, California. The guys were in terrific shape in '58, so the performances are energetic ("Somebody Loves You"), funny ("Sweet Lorraine" performed with a cartoon character voice) mixing standards ("Day By Day," "It's A Blue World") with lesser known tunes ("Malaya," "Circus"). The "Voices and Brass" LP took the previous idea of Five Trombones and expanded it into a trombone choir conducted by Pete Rugolo. The studio classics include "Stella By Starlight," "Route 66" and "It Had To Be You." More than an hour of very tasty frosh harmonies! Please note that even though there's another "two-fer" with an "In Person" LP, it's a different set of songs. (76:52 1958/1960/2004)
