Subtitled "Heritage Series Vol.III," this recording focuses on American spirituals. Along with tender, traditional arrangements like "There is a Balm" are more modern treatments, such as "Gettin' Up Mornin'." The second half is the "River Suite," which draws on river-theme spirituals in nine sections, mostly accompanied by piano and featuring soloist Tom Tipton. Very nice! (61:03)
