If you like the male chorus sound, check out this harmonious holiday recording! Heart of Texas is a barbershop chapter, although the arrangements include a range of male choral sounds. There are certainly barbershop harmonies in an unusually rhythmic "We Three Kings," joyous "Jingle Bells" and Jay Giallombardo's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." However, there are plenty of surprises, beginning with the subdued opening of "Joy To The World" which then yields to a cascading bell sound - very cool! David Wright's arrangement of "Mary Had A Baby" is unafraid of occasional dissonance (to lovely effect). Well done! (33:04 2002)
