This top ten quartet's third CD is the first to include bass Brian Beck, a gold medalist, arranger and AIC recording organizer. Not only Beck's voice, but six of his arrangements are included on this diverse recording; he penned the charts of Chinese tune "Moa Li Hua," Maori "Pokarekare Ana" and the "New Zealand National Anthem." While there's more traditional barbershop far like "That's A Plenty" (inspired by 1940's champs the Mid-States Four) and "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows," SEP is known for variety, and pushing the envelope. So they have no problem throwing in "Barbara Ann" and "In The Still Of The Night," a Beck "Gospel Medley" and even accompanied rendition of "That's A Plenty" with Beck playing all the instruments (though not at the same time!). An enjoyable musical potpourri! (43:52 2004)
