The Free Indeed family from Bentonville, Arkansas gives us this lovely Christmas gift, filled with favorites sacred and secular. This group is filled with relatives - spouses and siblings alike. What makes this disc even more of a family affair is the appearance of the group members' children on sweet, vocal-percussion-enhanced "Away in a Manger."

The two women and four men in this group have a lovely blend as well as the ability to keep a song a classic while giving it a fresh new approach at the same time (just listen to "Sing Noel/The First Noel" "O Holy Night" or "Angels We Have Heard on High" for proof). Granted, they're not a traditional, classically-trained sounding group, but that's okay. They do sing very well with a very down-to-earth, everyman kind of sound that is not intimidating, but welcoming. You're not afraid to sing along with Free Indeed, and I think this is part of their mission.
