This quartet performed for nearly 25 years (1954-1979), a top tencompetitor in all three decades and on Broadway in "The Music Man" (takingthe place of The Buffalo Bills). In their first release of live material ("Slightly Different") the liner notes said no studio recordings were made. Well, here's a digitally remastered gem chock full of the distinctive arrangements by bass Bob Bohn. For example, "After You've Gone" is sophisticated barber-jazz - very cool! The same can be said for "The Party's Over," which also features a distinctive falsetto lead. These may be old recordings (and well-preserved, we should say), but there's material in here that would be fresh today! (52:24 2003)
