The Masters of Harmony under the direction of Michigan Jake lead Mark Hale reached into their Southern (California) heritage to grab the gold with stirring ballad "Song of the South" and thrilling "Here Comes The Showboat" from the play Showboat that brought spontaneous cheers from the audience (due to the choreography). Toronto Northern Lights took the silver for the second year, in no small part due to their flawless execution of the tremendously difficult "Alabamy Bound" arrangement - wow! It's one of three David Wright arrangements in the opening five tracks (is there a trend here?). They were followed in the winners circle by the Alexandria Harmonizers ("How Deep Is The Ocean/Remember"), Ambassadors of Harmony ("Toy Song") and Midwest Vocal Express ("Wilkommen/Be My Host/Be Our Guest").
