Peckham, Anne: Vocal Workouts for the Contemporary Singer (Book/CD)
Be the first to review this product
Anne Peckham is a singer and a professor in the Voice Department of the Berklee College of Music, so she focuses professionally on good vocal technique for jazz, pop and rock music. The first part of the book is vocal technique essentials: breathing ("minutes to learn, a lifetime to master"), the "Four P's" of vocal training, a discussion of vibrato, vocal registers and "belting," essential vocal care, and a brief word on auditioning.
Part two is a series of 26 exercises that are explained in the book and played on the CD: six warm-ups for all voices; a basic workout with seven exercises (separate tracks for high and low voices) with rock, latin, gospel and jazz rhythms; then an advanced workout that ranges from rock vocalize to a jazz waltz to an R&B pentatonic pattern. The exercises conclude with singing two- and three-part harmony - pop/rock, R&B, funk, country and blues. This is a great way to stretch your voice without breaking it! Note: Due to the size and weight of this item, an additional $2.00 S&H charge will be added to the regular charges.
