On their third CD, Sweet Ad's champs Swing Street do an amazing jobexpanding beyond barbershop's boundaries. They open the CD true to theirroots, with a Giallambardo-arranged "Great Day Medley" and two Waescheworks, "I Can Dream, Can't I" and "Swanee." Then, suddenly a jazz piccoloappears briefly on "Little Jazz Bird" and you know something's differenthere! They go on to quote scat from "Ella in Berlin" on a cool "EllaMedley," co-opt the Rockapella arrangement of "Let's Get Away From It All"and exq uisitely adapt the Take 6 rendition of "If We Ever Needed the LordBefore" - wow! And their Manhattan Transfer-esque "Heart's Desire" isgorgeous. This is one of our new favorites! (33:44)
