This fast-rising men's quartet has produced a whopper of a debut CD! They open with blockbuster "Sweet Lorraine," which highlights their ability to make intricate arrangements sound oh so easy. David Wright's arrangements of "Sweet Lorraine," "Louise" and "Dina" are exciting rhythmic adventures, effortlessly delivered. The distinctive lead of Mark Hale brings to mind Boston Common, as does his emotive interpretation of such songs as gorgeous "Always," Kern's "Why Do I Love You" (one of several impressive arrangements by Hale) and standard "Imagination." The only non-barbershop tune is a gorgeous lullaby featuring exceptional tenor Drew Kirkman, "All The Pretty Little Horses." Very highly recommended! (43:15 2000)
