This is one of the over 300 spirituals arranged by Jester Hairston, the grandson of slaves from the Hairston plantation at Belew's Creek, North Carolina, Jester Hairston often had to suffer the indignities of Hollywood racism throught his movie and media career, but his contribution to our national collection of the spiritual is huge. A graduate, magna cum laude from Tufts, he died at age 98 in 2000. Piano is provided in this arrangment for rehearsal purposes.
